Every person is addicted to a few habits in his daily life or is addicted to many things. Addiction is any habits or interests that you cannot control or the habits which are not good for you. These habits often have negative effects on your life. The fact is that these are meant for temporary pleasure and satisfaction, and won’t be beneficial to a person. Addictions are of different types, such as addiction to food, television, mobile, shopping, videos, job etc. Let us examine how we can break free from these ineffective habits.
How can you identify your addictions?
The most important thing is to have a clear awareness of your addiction. One of the best ways to identify what your addictions are is to give up the same for a few days. For example, If you love to drink tea or coffee regularly try not to drink it for a few days. If you are uncomfortable with this or can’t tolerate the temptation, we can say that you are addicted to it.
Make a firm decision
Once you know what your addiction is, then you need to make a firm decision to get rid of it. Be self-aware of what positive changes this decision could make in your life. This will further strengthen the decision you are going to make.
Replace it with another positive habit
When you are willing to give up the habits you like most, you may become stressed. So, you need to find some activities or hobbies that will make you happy. Now, if you are a video game addict, you can indulge in other sports like football or any other outdoor games. Imagine yourself as a food addict. Think that your friend is inviting you to a party or dinner. Be strong enough to reject the offer. As you do so, you will be proud of yourself, thus increasing the self-confidence.
Try to be consistent and focused
A sudden change from many of your addictions is not easy. This can only be overcome with constant enthusiasm. When you give up a habit that is very dear to you, believe yourself that there will be more positive changes in your life and go ahead with confidence.
